Poems

Hey everyone,

So, when I get bored I do wordgames which turn into little poems.
Most are not true or based upon my life but if they are I'll let you know.
They aren't very deep or anything, I like to keep it a little light and easy to read.

Eyecontact. (true)

and when i saw you walking by
looking straight into my eyes
the world must've stopped turning
because those two seconds
of our eyes meeting eachother
felt like an endless fire burning.

Paradise is yours.

what's paradise?
is it rainbows and butterflies?
everything in compromise?
is it finding your long lost family
is it winning from your enemy?
is paradise what everyone thinks it will be
or is it something that only you truly want to see.

Sleepless in Rotterdam.

Hey all,

So I'm typing this because I don't know what else to do.
I'm on my Hyves (a profile site just like MySpace) , commenting with my friends who are still online and someone just asked me what I was doing up so late on a schoolday.

To be honest, it's almost 2AM and I can't sleep.

I'm sleepless in Rotterdam and all I can think of is my cup of tea standing in front of me, the lyrics to my new favourite song ; Oh! by Mickey Green and how many hours of sleep I have left while the clock keeps on ticking.

I've been discussing with one of my friends on what I want to do in the future and how I'd like to purchase my dreams, and I came to the conclusion that most of the things I want won't happen.

Who doesn't want to have all the money in the world, a fairytale lovestory with a more realistic touch than the Disney fairytales, have an independant life, kids, a pretty house with a white picket fence an no problems at all?

Pure fictional dream, it's not going to happen.

But my friend is so positive, he keeps on saying that all roads lead to Rome and if you want something enough, you'll get it.

I love positive people, I'm not saying I'm not positive, but I wish I was it just a little more.

Maybe that's my new year's revolution, being more positive.

Love,

Elle

The new year has started again...

Hello everyone!

I wanted to wish you all a Happy New Year again, I hope everyone you know will be in good health and you all get your wishes to come true.

I hope you all had a great NYE , I know I did.

There's nothing better than watching TV with your loved ones, count down the final seconds and go up to the streets to walk around and wish everyone you know a happy new year.

So that's what I did.....

Right now, I'm listening to some french music radio channel, and it has a lot of great songs on it, I must admit.

Next to that, I'm surfing a little bit through the Internet, reading myself into the requirements and rules for my traineeship in America. I have to sign the papers and return them ASAP, so that's what I'm going to do tomorrow morning. After I served breakfast to our guests in the hotel.

I have to get up very early and it's already 1AM here. I'll keep you updated!

Love,
Elle.

Merry (belated) Christmas and a happy new year!

It's been a while... I know!

But I've had so many things to do these last few months, I forgot to blog about it!

So, I've been busy with school a lot, I believe I told you all about going on a trip to London with school, well ; I went on November 19th and I loved it!

It was a great city to visit, the sight-seeings were amazing and the shopping streets : NO WORDS.

I've visited the best-known sights there are, Madame Tusseauds, St. Pauls Cathedral (on the picture) , the Big Ben, the London Towers, the British Museum and many more.

Man, have I bought too many things at Piccadilly Circus and Oxford Circus!!

On top, my class was just great, so I enjoyed every moment with them, especially with my 3 room-mates : Sharon,Anouk & Jenny. Here's a picture of us four below, I'm in the middle, by the way =).

Next, I've been busy searching a place for my traineeship in May and I sent an application letter to a company in America and I had a job-interview. In my opinion it went terrible but I guess they thought different about it so I've been accepted. I'm ecstatic about it, I'm going to America!!!

I'll keep you posted on that one, really.

As I speak I'm enjoying my vacation in Paris, the city of light.

Right now I' m at my aunt's place in a little village called St.Nom-la-Breteche , situated about 80 km. outside Paris. I'm going to Paris tonight with my cousin and we'll sleep in her studio and maybe we'll go out, we have no planning.

I'm going to quit now, I have to take le déjeuner with my family.

Happy New Year and take care on New Year's Eve!

Love,

Elle.

So, is it fall or winter?

So, okay, normally our Summers aren't really that great, but they're okay.

But this year, it was horrible. It was cold and rainy from May to now.
We've had only 6 sunny days with high temperatures and no, I'm not joking.

What's happened has happened and we can't turn back time but it passes by and right now, I'm not really looking forward to Fall or Winter. It's officially fall now and it feels like winter outside.

It's been raining for 3 days now, very cold. It's exactly 46Fahrenreit here. That's 8Celcius for those who are in Europe.

So I was thinking about the climats and how everything depends on humanity and what we want to do about it. Because it might be cold out here for some reason, but there are places where it's still insanely hot and it keeps getting hotter and hotter. We're responsible for the global warmth and if you have no clue about what it is, just check this out.

I recommend you to go see the movie!

Driving slow on Sunday morning, and I never want to leave.

So, don't you just love lazy Sunday mornings/afternoons?

I do. It's just the best thing in the world, to sleep in until you can't sleep anymore, drink a good
cup of coffee and make yourself a little breakfast.

What's even better is when you're completely alone in the house. You wake up and all there is silence, the sunshine shining through the curtains and peace.

My parents and little brothers wnet away for a weekend and I had one of my best friends coming over to my house last night. Her boyfriend joined us and it was pretty funny.

We watched cabaret and dutch entertainment shows on YouTube and couldn't stop laughing. They left at about 3 'o clock and I slept at about 4 'o clock. I woke up this morning at around 10AM and went down the stairs to eat breakfast.

Right now, I'm kind of working at my dad's hotel but there aren't any guests so I can just do things for myself.

It's a sunny day for the first day in weeks and I'm just happy and smiling.

If you're still searching for an after-summer song you should really take a look/listen to this one :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSvrf84UjFg

Yves Larock - Rise up

It's definitely been my favourite song of this summer and I'm pretty sure you'll be singing it after you've heard it for the first time.

With this song, I end my post.

Rise up, don't falling down again!

Love,
Elle.

Let me introduce myself to you.

Hello everyone,

Whether you're on the other side of the world or in the same street, welcome to my blog.

Isn't internet the best invention of the last two decades, next to iPods,DVD's,DVD Players and cellphones?

So, let's see how I can introduce myself the best to you....

My full name is Axelle Nathalie Amélie van Vliet , but it's Elle short.
I turned eightteen last June 14th, which means I'm born in 1989.
Currently I live and study in Rotterdam, I'm studying Tourism.
I've got three little brothers, who are ages 10,3 and 2.
I've got two best friends, Angela & Jenny, both very opposite.
My hobby's are listening to music, reading books/mags/journals, watching my favourite soap opera As The World Turns, traveling, watcing classic movies and hanging out with my friends.

If there's one thing I can't live without it's music. You'll always see me walking down the street with two earphones, my face in total ''no look'' mode and my thoughts only set on the music and lyrics. My friends are irritated by the fact that I never stop playing the music. It's either playing on my iPod,on the radio,on the television, on my computer or theirs.

Second, I love watching Classic Turner Movie Channel or the soap opera As The World Turns.
I know pretty much EVERYTHING about what happened in the last 10 years. That's when I started watching by the way.

For the people who watch ATWT and like Jack/Katie, I put up a YouTube channel with their clips :

I live by quotes, I've got too many of them that explain exactly how I feel. I'll post quotes when I feel like it.

Next to that, I'll be keeping this blog as some kind of diary, only without the secrets of course, LOL.

I hope you'll keep reading.

Love,
Elle
